Auto transmission fluid specification

I have a MY13 auto diesel Freelander, according to the manual the correct fluid to use in this transmission is Nippon AW-1 which appears to be unobtainable down here in Australia, are there other brands that meet this specification.

Thanks Tea Gardens

The auto box is made by Aisin, owned by Toyota. I guess you have Toyota dealers in OZ? 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

The best thing is to find out the oil spec and buy a similar one from a different brand

A stack of manufactures are using the same transmission. Maybe just phone up & ask Mobile as that seems to be the brand the mechanics are using here. My mechanic has only changed the oil at this stage. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

My reason for raising this question is that a site search does not bring up Nippon AW-1 so either this is specific to Australia which I doubt or no one has looked into changing the transmission oil in post 2012 transmissions.
Could someone advise what is recommended in the handbook for English based vehicles.
I read on a Volvo site that mixing the old specified oil Mobil 3309 with Nippon AW-1 is not recommended so this could be a heads up to anyone looking into changing transmission oil in late model Freelanders.

For Lightwater and anyone else based in OZ this oil seems to meet the spec:

This oil meets "Aisin AW-1 Toyota WS" which I suspect but an not 100% sure is the same as Nippon AW-1 specifications. Anyone shed any light on why the specified oil was changed, the Volvo site suggest that the electronics were upgraded in these newer boxes.

MY13 onwards have a "neutral selection" status which disengaged drive at standstill and coasting aswell as added features "Gradient Release Control" and "EPB". Electronics and oil specifications changed at this point. MY15

Thanks Stuart that clears that up, there is defiantly a difference in boxes post 2012, am left wondering about the consequences of putting 3309 oil in these new boxes specially if you do a partial change as I am considering.

Apparently the change was made in 2011 according to the above. So what is the difference between jws 3309 and Nippon AW-1, that yellow triangle stating " Do not use any lubricant other than specified" is interesting.
Anyone put 3309 in a post 2011 box or more likely an indy that was not aware of the change has changed your transmission fluid.
