I am facing the same situation. Just bought a 2007 FL2 with full LR dealer service history. I have used a good local independent LR specialist previously on my Discovery 2, who quoted £285 for an interim service on the FL2 – compared to £275 on the fixed price servicing deal at the local dealership (Hunters). For the sake of another LR stamp in the book, I've decided to go with the main dealership on this occasion.

Mine has just been serviced at Hunters in Garstang, I can't fault them, always done what was asked, staff are great and I am happy with the costs. £275 for service, plus brake fluid change which was about £45.

Should there be some way of actually knowing what they have done on a service over and above the service book list. What I mean is that when I posted on here about that age old Haldex/rear diff issue I know some of your replies were that there had been a computer reprogramme that was done at a service but how do yopu know that things like that have been done? |

The 3+ scheme is a Land Rover UK backed service scheme for all LR over 3 years old, Most (but not all) LR dealers are running the scheme to try and attract owners of older vehicles away from indy servicing. However after my recent LR service im not convinced they did as good a job as my local trusted indy.

I was informed that the brake fluid change was now 2years, I queried the fluid at the 3 year A service as it was on the service sheet for a change, if it was included, the dealership had the service history, but no mention of the change and then wanted over £50 for the change if I wanted it. Went to my indie, can't be bothered with amateurs. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I use a local garage who looks after all their customers no matter what vehicle. My vehicle is over 8 years old so would not contemplate using a main dealer unless i had to. I supply all genuine service items or parts which i purchase from the internet at the cheapest price i can get. I know when they do a service or any work its done properly. |
