United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Loire Blue
Pirelli Scorpion Zeros

This is my first "off roader" vehicle so I have little knowledge of the vast choice of tyres available.
Mine has got Pirelli Scorpion Zeros M+S. Size 235/60R18 103V.

In terms of usage, I doubt I will do any serious off roading but will eventually be towing a caravan. Normal use for me is A roads and some motorway driving. Good road grip and low road noise are important and obviously something that doesn't wear down too quickly.

The tyres have got 5mm on them so wont need changing yet as I not a high mileage user.

Where do these tyres sit in terms of what I want out of a tyre?
When I need to change, are there better alternatives & if so, what are they.

Thanks

there are always better alternatives and there are worse.

I had general grabber AT tyres fitted to my last FL2, and they were excellent if a little on the noisy side.

my current FL2 has the same tyres as you, all 4 fitted by the dealer before I bought it. so far im really impressed with them. and as they are only £106 fitted by black circles then they are a really good price.

My first set were these but I would not have them again.

Once the wear gets down to 3 - 4 mm the sipes in the tread blocks disappear and the reduction in grip was noticeable. I lost the back end coming off a roundabout on some ice and got rid of them straight away.

My Goodyear wranglers kept the sipes down to about 2.5 mm. FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green
