Hi, mine is too old to have a DPF. I think they came in with 2010 models.

Ah, maybe DPF was introduced earlier in the German market. I have read posts earlier in this thread and they were introduced in 2011in U.K.

Bought a blanking plate but not fitted yet. Is gasket seal really required or can I just use the plate alone? |

Hi, I contacted the seller on this. They advised that they had only used a smeer of copper slip on each side and had never had one leek. I have fitted two now and they show no signs of leeking. Just be careful to tighten the two bolts evenly a bit at a time to ensure a flat contact.

totally agree with you Dresdner!! In fact during the regeneration the EGR is closed! furthermore, the DPF needs NOx to work, and also high temperatures. now we know that the EGR lower the NOx and the temperatures....so blankig the EGR will be healty for the DPF. unfortunately, the full blank MAYBE put on the EML: maybe...I don't tyed yet I put the restictor only because I've bought it first |

I looked into blanking the EGR on my Saab (with DPF) everyone found blanking with a solid plate would put the EML on but a plate with a hole (or several small holes could be used without putting the EML on. I did find a post by someone that started with a solid plate and kept drilling small holes in it until it stopped putting the light on.

Hi, from all the posts I have seen it looks like you can not fully blank PDF equiped cars. There is monitoring of the EGR functioning and exhaust flow through to the inlet. Blank it off and fault shown. As you can see from my test of a partial blank (see photo), quite a lot of soot is stopped by plate. I would guess this will help reduce the shxt that goes through the inlet but eventually the plate may clog up and still cause a fault warning.

yes, it looks like you can not fully blank PDF equiped cars, but nobody tryed to blank a pre-facelift DPFed Freelander yet.

Hi all, had the full blanking plate on for a week now. Still think she runs smoother but I can't say I have seen any change in mpg.

Hi all, update on full blanking plate. I have now done nearly 2000 miles since fitting. A mixture of commuting and one 600 mile motorway run to the south coast and back. Car has gradually become even smoother and pulls even better at low revs. The small clouds of smoke when pulling away after a being stuck in traffic have gone.
