Australia 2008 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Sumatra Black

To lower the roof lining enough to access the location of the DAB amplifier in the roof, without damaging the roof lining, you need to remove both D pillars, the back seat grab handle and C-pillar on the left side. With the rubber seal around the tailgate opening removed it pulls down just enough to access. There are two large plastic clips holding it up at the rear.

As for wiring, I was under the impression that the cars should be plug & play; that's what that little power adapter cable was for, but I couldn't find anywhere to connect it in mine.

In my case I used that power adapter plug anyhow, by cutting the plug off the other end, extending both cables, to an earth and tapping into the +12V wire coming out of the rear fuse box, the one that is for DAB (check your owners manual for the fuse location).

Since there is a wire for DAB power coming out of the rear fuse box, it has to run somewhere, but with it being bunched in together inside the loom, I didn't try to unpick it and find where it went (I was in a rush too). 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Zermatt Silver

Nice post, it helped me out a ton to install DAB (without L-Band) in my 2010 Freelander 2!

A few helpful tips for anyone attempting this:

If you buy the normal DAB module (6H52-19C032-**) it comes with a different power socket than the newer DAB+. The part number for the old one is YPC908890 however it doesn't come with the connectors for the cable so you will need to get them as well.

Apologies for pinching your photo but i forgot to take any myself.
Where i have stuck the red circle in the photo below is the location of the wire for the DAB that goes to the fuse box, it should be a blue/red cable in pin 6. You just need to add the cable to the corresponding pin in the other half of the connector. For the ground i mounted this to one of the cars grounding cables just below this connector (it just bolts straight on).

According to the electrical drawings you need a 0.75mm^2 (Blue/Red) cable for the positive and 0.5mm^2 (Black/Blue) for the ground.

A 2m MOST cable was a bit tight, i recommend getting a 2.5/3m if you plan on routing it through the spare wheel housing or 4m if you plan on going through the headlining. These don't have to be the official JLR ones so you could potentially save yourself some money.

As for fixings for the bracket it all seems to be M6, with the old DAB module it fits using the existing fixings on the bracket so no modification was required. Very Happy
1x M6x20 bolt for the top fixing & 6x M6 locking nuts and washers for everything else.

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Izmir Blue

I'm going to order the bits for this tomorrow from Dan.

Am I right in thinking in the UK we don't need to change the roof mounted antenna?

Also, for you guys struggling with the CCF, I have a GAP Diagnostics IID Tool which can edit the CCF on the car. I used it last week to enable the Xenons.

It's a great tool and will let you edit your own CCF without any difficulty at all. Thumbs Up

Glad it helped you out Supertoad.

dhallworth are you sure that the IID allows you to activate the DAB? Last time I checked it was very limited in what it could do in regards to CCF on a FL2. It can do a lot more on the Disco & RRS, but not much on the FL2, the headlights was one of the available options though.

And no you don't need the dome antenna in the UK. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

I have no experience with Autologic, so I don't know for sure.

But I THINK that some members on this forum had their headlight upgrades done by garages who used Autologic, which would also mean changes to the CCF.

So maybe?! 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Rimini Red

Hi Guys (n Gals of course)
Just got my first Freelander 2 and chuffed to bits with it. Wanted one for ages and now so pleased I've finally got it (I'm 68 but feel a like a kid with a new box of crayons). Laughing

It's an HSE but sadly the AM reception on the radio is a big fat zero. Sad
However, I've now seen this thread and thought to myself "this is something I must/can probably do".
Are there any advances on the postings above, any updates in parts, methods etc. or further thoughts on the process ? ................and can you use Range Rover DAB modules to do this job ? (they seem to be a cheaper option on Ebay at the moment.
Cheers. Cool

Nothing has changed in the last three months if that's what you are asking.

As for Range Rover DAB modules, maybe they can work? Which part number/s? 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

Ah right, ok...

Honestly I do not know if the earlier Discovery/RRS/Vogue DAB modules will work in a Freelander2.

If they were compatible you would have to wonder why would JLR have several different versions if they didn't need to... 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers
