3. The parts used at a main dealer will be genuine Land Rover Parts. An indy will probably use factored parts.

Well it is not as if Land Rover actually make any parts themselves. Using a decent make Gates, Contitech etc will
be every bit as good. Who knows one of these two might actually make the parts for LR.

My original belt was a Gates (factory fitted) When I renewed it I used a Gates (good for another 150k)
It is not such a difficult DIY job and the complete kit costs less than £120.
Plenty of help and info on the forum.

Joe Fix it until it's broke !

I was quoted £650 using LR parts. You can get it cheaper if you use a different water pump.

Best to be safe an change belt at around 75k or 7 years and all the transmission oils I've just had mine done at 60k and 8 years and oils were well past their best.

I agree your figures sound very sensible. 150k for a belt change is ludicrous. One cannot change the transmission oil too soon. Obviously depends on the type of motoring you do but 70k is agood figure to change it at, you might be shocked at what colour it actually is!

the £380 quote is a better figure.Spoke to a garage today and they have changed them at 150k and the belt looked fine,so god knows how far it could possibly go? not worth the risk so it will be getting done soon.

Interesting that the 2.2 Evoque belt is due at 144k/9 years

I think that says all we need to know about the safety margin of the belt...

Little time consuming, but nothing hugely difficult, other than possibly retightening the crank pulley bolt (70Nm then 82 degrees... )

To make matters worse, ToPix made no mention of the 90 degrees, only torque to 70Nm Shocked

Cost of replacement bears no comparison to cost of belt failure ....

Replaced mine at 74k ... yes that's very early but with a short regular cycle and in traffic it puts more strain and shortens life of belt.

My previous printscreen is from Topix... They say 70Nm + 60 degrees.

For what it is worth all these cars use the same timing belt kit (belt, water pump, tensioner, idler pulley etc.)
