I have already stated my preference for "OUT".

However, we have four more months of proclamations, scare tactics and maybe downright lies to look forward to (from both sides). I only hope that everyone who votes does so having thoroughly looked at the implications of their decision. This is certainly the most important collective decision asked of us in our lifetimes. I truly do believe we can and will survive and prosper outside the EU, as we did previously.

Looking at what seems to me lunatic emotional statements being made by all and sundry on social media I am fearful. Whatever happens, I do not want a bunch of ill-informed dip sh!ts skewing the result.

Perhaps the answer is to re-invent the EU.

I mean we have let Australia and Isreal into the European Song Competition Laughing

Seriously though some form of European Union must be sensible but should we also be helping our near neighbours like Greece (and dare I say it Ireland) who have screwed up economically. I actually don't know the answer. Maybe a reduced top tier EU with the financial muscle houses involved and then a second tier for those not as financially sound, with entry into the top tier being on financial stability.

As for immigration maybe we should have addressed the home grown work shy first.

No Bob, include Northern Ireland and it becomes the United Kingdom, not Great Britain Thumbs Up

Now you're talking, there would be no need for the vast amount of immigrant workers if the home grown work shy would get off their ass, immigrant workers are important to the rural survival.

Ah Ha! I get it, EY! However, the referendum covers the whole of the United Kingdom & Northern Ireland. So why refer to GB only? We are all "In" or "Out" together, correct?

Scottish and Welsh don't like the Brits, so who are the Brits then?

Just pulled this off the BBC website. Seems that Irish people living in the UK will get a vote.

Who will be able to vote?
British, Irish and Commonwealth citizens over 18 who are resident in the UK, along with UK nationals who have lived overseas for less than 15 years. Members of the House of Lords and Commonwealth citizens in Gibraltar will also be eligible, unlike in a general election. Citizens from EU countries - apart from Ireland, Malta and Cyprus - will not get a vote. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

Good bit in the FT today. Remember the furore about EU regulations on the power of vacuum cleaners? Well there is/was a proposal to limit the power of electric kettles and toasters for environmental reasons (still takes the same energy to heat the water but ignore that bit) . This proposal has been quietly shelved as it could could affect the outcome of the referendum. I can see the headlines in the Daily Mirror/Sun now - "EU dictates cold tea and toast for breakfast" 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I think we should stay in. It is making interesting reading seeing all the different views, some of you are far more informed than I. The reason for staying is quite simple and hopefully not too naive, I think as a concept the EU is a good thing. I think that most would agree it's not ideal, some of it is good and some of it is downright ridiculous. I think that we have more chance of improving, changing and making a difference by staying in. I think we need to find a way to remove some of the craziness and to change things to how we need and want them to be.
