Retrofit retro fitting heated seats

Slightly off topic but there doesn't appear to be anything on the forum about retro fitting heated seats. I bought a FL2 XS with black leather seats but no heating elements. I knew I wouldn't get through the winter so searched for a suitable kit. I settled on this from ebay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-Pairs-Carbon-F...564aeb3685

Fitting took about a day, being really patient when removing the leather and re upholstering the seats. There are some very good you tube clips that helped. Although the switch is omitted from the centre of the climate dial on the dash, I was able to fit the switch on the corner of the seat and fortunately the heavy duty wiring is present in the loom under the seat. Very easy to install and connect up.

Now very pleased with my heated seats, they work really well.

i fitted similar pads to my GS. quite straight forward , just got to be careful when taking covers off , lots of sharp metal edges. I positioned switches either side of centre console. I found this enabled me to access switch to warm up passenger seat prior to picking up my good lady on a cold winters night and getting into her good books for the rest of the evening !!!!!!!!![/img]

Agreed, it is a bit of a stretch to turn passengers seat on, which I've had to do a couple of times. Also I can't see whether it's been left on. However I like the fact that my console is free and that all the fittings are within the seat. Didn't have to take anything else apart. Two different options which gives others a choice of fitting. Well worth the effort.

Heating elements are not there. LR never fitted heated seat mats to cars that weren't specified with heated seats. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Unlikely heating mats be fitted as Mav says but reading this thread I can tell you that retrofitting the factory heated seats is easy!
Elements, change HVAC module (to heated seat switches model), heated seat module under each seat and edit CCF - easy!
Just make sure your wiring is under the seats first, may depend on model you have. Thumbs Up MY15
