United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

Code P006A is 'Manifold absolute pressure - mass or volume air flow correlation'. I presume that is on the inlet manifold? I cannot see were the MAF sensor is that you have had replaced but there is a sensor on the inlet manifold LR 001234 as shown as 9F479 in the picture below. There is also a sensor lower down on the throttle body as well which connects to the bottom of the inlet manifold (not shown). Not sure if it is any of these but may be worth a look?

Now I see that the original error refers to MAP and, as you've said that MAF was checked, I've lived with the impression that the error it's about mass air flow (MAF).... Sorry, my mistake, I was not paying attention.

Let's clarify something.... MAP is one and MAF is another.
One refers to the pressure after turbo and the other about the fresh air flow draw by the engine.

Indeed, the error suggests that the pressure in the intake (after turbo) is abnormal (high or low) based/compared with the intake air flow. Here the correct and complete error's interpretation could be given if we have had the second, two digit, sub-error code.

And yes, RichP guessed correctly in saying that the 9F479 is the MAP sensor, that also should be checked.

It does indeed say MAP but I queried this at the time and I was assured it was the MAF sensor. I will query it again first thing in the morning.
Thanks for your help

FIXED IT! 500 later!

It was a split boost hose that was completely invisible. It was noticed when they took it on a test with the laptop and they could see the boost pressure drop just before the limp mode kicked in. 88 for the pipe, I think it was made from the intestine of a unicorn!

Thanks for everyone's help.

What I don't understand is that you are forced to purchase a part that was fitted in error (this should be noticed on the test drive ). As it was a new part it is normal to assume that the garage could hold it in stock until it was required for a genuine fault.
I do however realise thar Assumption makes an ASS out of U & ME

Yes but I was told before hand that electronic parts cannot be refunded and it was my choice to try a new MAF (which was there recommendation) or continue to diagnose. I made the wrong choice but hey-ho I suppose.

I'll chuck it on eBay if I get 25 for it that's better than nothing.

Do you know which hose was the culprit.
I have the exact same problem with mine at the moment.
Changed fuel filter a couple of months back, which cured the problem until last weekend when it started going into limp mode again.
Got the P006A message from reading the codes.

I'm sorry I don't, but they did say they would never have found it without looking as it is not one that is easily seen....

As a follow on to my problem a couple of posts back.
I decided to have a look at things yesterday, removing the under tray to inspect the turbo pipe work.
I found lots of oil running down the pipe work from the intercooler to the engine.
I eventually found a split in the short length of hose which connects to the throttle body.
Bought a new replacement @ 108 as you have to buy the complete thing from intercooler to throttle body, fitted and pleased to report no more problems.
Goes like a rocket again now.
Mind you, the duck tape repair to the old one seemed to hold up fine whilst I went to fetch the new hose!!😀

So inconveniently the dreaded 'restricted performance' red triangle appeared this evening when on the motorway towing a trailer. Fortunately only a small trailer with a cement mixer on board but coming up the climber lane on the M2 out of Belfast, if anybody knows it, was down to a max of 50 mph which was a bit frustrating. Got home OK, unloaded the mixer and trailer and started it again, warning gone. Took it for a drive, performance seemed normal but strange 'wooshing' noise from air vents when accelerating. Straight stretch of road I gave it a bootfull of welly and the RP message back on 🙄.
Home again and my cheapy obd2 reader plugged in, showing p006a code. Have cleared the code and the warning has gone off the dash again. Haven't driven it again and not going to look at it tonight but hoping it's as simple as a split hose as some have reported here. Will have a good check over all the hoses tomorrow. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

It will be, but depending on which one has failed, only time will tell if it will be simple! Rolling with laughter (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Well.....not just as simple as expected.
Took the small hose at the manifold off, relatively easy to get at but no, all intact.🤔
Removed the undertray and could see evidence of oil on the lower hose. I could not however get at the jubilee clip on the intercooler end no matter how I tried and contorted myself. 😤 Nothing else for it but to remove the front bumper which then let me at the clip with ease. Here's where I'm at currently. Need to order a new hose so will be out of action until that arrives - unless I can get one locally.

Bob, did you get sorted in the end.
Mine has thrown up the exact code but hoping to source the hose locally either BLRC or Charlie Hurst. I had seen Powerful Uk had uploaded a video with thew same problem.

Stephen.

Love the mini by the way Very Happy
