I'm not trying to be sarcastic here....but one way (forwards/backwards-horizontally), on the OS and the oposite on the NS as the adjuster is in the opposite way up on one side. I can't remember off hand which is which. It should be fairly evident as you flick/push it with a large flat bladed screwdriver, if you rotate the drum once you've moved it. You should also (with a torch, through the access hole) be able to see less thread exposed on the adjuster as you slacken it off. I hope that makes sense ![]() |

Sorry, can you please confirm exactly which parts are the same as for the Volvo V40? We have an independent Volvo specialist just up the road - might be useful for parts / doing the job. Thanks |

Hi, just refurbished shoes, expanders and adjusters after discs and pads renewal, just one question does it matter which way up the adjusters are fitted? think I may have fitted one with the knurled wheel at the bottom. |

Hi, not sure if this might help. When I bought mine I thought the handbrake was poor but okay. At the first MOT, sadly after the 12 month extended warranty had run out, there was an advisory that the handbrake cables were splitting and corroded. I had this looked at by my local Indy. Replaced both cables as they were shot but found shoes and drum area were both fine. Handbrake has worked fine ever since.

Sometimes you can tell which side is seized by watching the adjuster as you apply/release the handbrake |
