Hello everyone, this is my first post so go easy on me!
I'm looking for some help with regards an abs problem on my freelander 2.
My nearside front driveshaft boot split and I had to replace the shaft after a vibration started under acceleration.
So I sourced a salvage shaft and had it fitted. Vibration sorted but had abs lights on ever since. Looking through some forums it seems that it's possible that the sensor has been damaged during fitting so I was wondering is there an easy way to test the sensor before buying a new one?
Or could it be related to the shaft? I know there aren't reluctor rings but can anyone tell me the best thing to do next?
I'm tired looking at these three lights and cruise control doesn't work which is annoying.

It is possible that the abs sensor or wire has been damaged, if someone fitted it for you then get them to replace the loom, which has the sensor on it. If you don't want the hassle then fit one yourself, takes about 20 mins.

Did you used force to insert the halfshaft into the wheel knuckle/bearing?
Is it possible that the wheel bearing to have shifted a little inside the wheel knuckle during the operation?
The sensor, which is fixed in relation to the wheel knuckle, is reading a magnetic ring which is incorporated onto the seal of the wheel bearing... (below something like that)

The driveshaft was manuevered into place by hand and wasn't forced. I wasn't sure if the magnetic ring was on the shaft or the bearing itself. I'll maybe try the sensor first and if that doesn't work I'll take the hub carrier out and check that ring.
Suppose it is possible the sensor took a knock during installation. Would be an easy fix if it was

Check the resistance of the sensor, not sure of the correct reading for the F2's but compare it with another one on the vehicle

Hi everyone just a quick follow up on my abs problem. Measured resistance of the sensor and it wasn't giving any reading whatsoever so I assumed that it was faulty. ordered one and put it in last night and all lights are out!

The sensor must have been damaged when the shaft was replaced.

Hope I'm joining in on the right thread here, seems an old one...

Having just replaced both rear shocks I now have an abs fault on the dash which I presume will be either a wheel sensor or the hub ring out of line somehow.

Is there a 'how to' on replacing the wheel sensor & wiring loom? Can't find it in search?

Does a Hawkeye indicate the difference betweeen a dodgy sensor ir a dodgy hub?

I guess I'm asking too many 'simple' questions...

Just cleaned, WD40'd and re-seated the sensors then took off the wheel arch plastic inners to get at the sensor connectors. Still no joy with finding the problem but will take it to the local garage to get it diagnosed. Obviously a simple job to change them....

Quite a bit of muck seems to gather under those plastic arches so well worth taking them off and giving then a good clean. Only dead fish go with the flow
