In short Yes! The trial format was called "eureka". The problem being is that because digital broadcast is relatively new compared to AM/FM etc that available band width varies from country to country which untimatley dictates the format of DAB. In some countries like US and Japan satellite radio is popular. In the US the digital service is called "Hybrid Digital (HD)" as DAB broadcast band width has been limited due to Band widths reserved for Military use only. From my understanding anyhow. Here in Australia there was also a limiting factor for the broadcast of digital signal, not sure if that's been Changed recently with adoption of DAB+, if it Truly is? From what my research has led me to believe that here in Australia that only the diversity antanae is required to procees the digital signal, this being the AM/FM loops in the rear screens with DAB amplifier. The DAB ECU switches to which ever arial is receiving best signal. This is because here in Australia no DAB signal is broadcast over the L-Band frequency. Apparently signal is primarily transmitted on VHF Band III similar to digital TV.
Well if you are listening to ABC then you should be doing this mod. Advantage of DAB is you can have multiple programing for same network. ABC and SBS were the primary adopters in the government trials.
Me! I just want more choice that standard run of the mill comercial radio stations and apparently the reproduction quality is better than FM and can take advantage of the superb Meridian System.
Even though this thread is lengthy, this is actually quite a simple mod to do! It may look like it's a lot of work but remember I've had absolutely no help from LR or the dealer in finding out about this option. Now that I've educated myself about the systems and establishing parts needed, it's quite an easy addition. I've sort of been treating this thread as more of a diary of what steps I've been taking in my journey to achieving this. If I was to write this up at the completion of this project the process is quite quick and short.
Besides I'm going to enjoy every second of the dealer eating humble pie when I show them the "DAB" soft key on the touchscreen - will be gold!!!!! MY15

For those of us only in Australia, above is a list of the digital service in all the major capital cities.
I can confirm, Australia only, currently all digital services are broadcast on VHF BAND III only. This means that I can omit the installation of the Roof Dome Antanna if I wish without affecting my reception of DAB+. Although all the literature, including Federal Government papers on the digital service in Australia does state that regional centres should be able to access this service which is in line with the policy of achieving a high percentage coverage to the whole of Australia. Doubt this will involve some sort of satellite beaming of digital signal.
So currently no need in Australia to replace Roof Top Antenna for reception of L-Band but I think I will anyhow, so I'm

Custom coax cables and Fakra plugs arrived today. 2m and 2.4m pre-terminated with correct fittings for LR.
Unfortunately, I need to cut off 1 end of each length to enable me to feed the plugs into the "double Fakra" that plugs into the DAB ECU. I tried to get the cables supplied with this double Fakra already fitted but the supplier said they had not seen that plug type before and suggested it was most likely unique to LR. Another option is to do away with the double Fakra plug housing and just plug it in (pictured), this means I can do away with chopping 2 perfectly good cables. Another possibility is i can send cables and plug back to be professional terminated again.

Donor door wiring loom has arrived so I guess I will be busy over Christmas unpicking the loom and cataloguing wire diameters against the corresponding door wiring schematic - fun fun fun!!!
Well actually it will be, pleases the "inner nerd" in me😱
Seems a shame to pull apart a brand new wiring loom
Then I can finally get to work making the plugs.

Slowly unpicking donor door wiring loom which is giving me plenty of spare hardware to use.
"Nerd Alert"!!! - This is very interesting/educational and I recommend if you want to have a better understanding of your vehicle then this is a great exercise than looking over schematics. Infact doing this and using the schematics as a reference is the best way to learn.
I now haven a good selection of wire diameters 0.35 up 2.5 and also able to match OE colour codes and plugs.
Interestingly, the power supply for the DAB ECU is one of the minor wire diameters 0.75 which is the same as a puddle lamp
supply wire. AMP is 4! obviously lots of draw

While you have the car ripped apart it is probably worthwhile upping acoustic insulation. I can't imagine going through this whole exercise a again!

I had a very nice KEF GT200 subwoofer system with a pair of amplifiers back in my Peugeot 504 & one of the first car CD players & more custom made top of the range van den Hul soldered cable & gold ends than in a bowl of spaghetti. Still use the cable today at home after scrapping the car. Ripped the car apart for a few weeks to install it all.

Now too old now to be bothered! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Luckily everything is all contained on the one location, drivers side rear cargo area so not a great deal of "ripping car apart" thank god Main hassle will be headlining but I'm hoping that I'll only have to semi-drop to get to DAB amplifier, Dome doesn't even need replacing.
Actually find sound proofing in mine pretty good, maybe they beefed it up in the MY15's. Last time I looked only area not covered in sound deadening material was floor of wheel well.
This DAB retrofit is easy!!!! I really should call this a diary as the how to would be very short! Maybe after I've completed I'll do a "how to". Really this is easy 💩 now I know what I'm doing. If you had to replace the main "ICE" harness then that be another story. It's really not necessary. One of the advantages of the MOST loop. Can be added anywhere in the system. MY15

First plug done for the DAB ECU. This is the power and ground to the unit. I managed to match OE specification thickness, 0.75 from the donor wiring harness but not the colours so I've used heat shrink to the major colour of each, ie Blue for the + feed and black to ground.
Once it's in and included into the wiring loom you'll be hard pressed to know it's not from the factory.
Funny enough, LR actually solder this wire themselves into the MOST permanent live so I don't feel bad about doing this also. If you note in the LR schematics, cavity 1's destination is "s/joint"

Now that the Hi-Line to Premium audio is complete this is going to be even easier!
Have the coax Leeds but unfortunately if I want to use the LR Double Fakra then I'll need to cut off one of the terminated ends, of each lead, to feed into the plug and then send back to manufacturer to re-terminate. Other option is to not use
Double Fakra plug and just plug terminated ends into DAB ECU (as pictured) but I'm not really comfortable with that solution. Will need to contact coax manufacturer first and make a decision.






So after the Hi-Line/Premium project, I've got to say this is a "no brainer"!!  MY15

On the home stretch now, just got to drop in coax cables to be terminated with correct black and violet Fakra plugs.
On doing final checks, getting accustom to the diagnostic system and chatting to Cambo I've now realised that I will need to change over the Satelite Dome and connect. Not that this will affect the DAB+ reception here in Australia (see previous post) but if I do not connect the L-band receiver this will trigger a DTC of an open circuit. As I said this will not affect the systems operation but it's something that I'm not willing to live with. MY15
