South Africa 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Firenze Red

Hi Jola,

Is this the kit you ordered: http://www.nav.tv/products/land-rover-rang...12-onwards

How did you do the shipping? Dont want to risk sending it through the SAPO...

No, I did not order that kit, I couldn't get enough information on it.

I ordered the one recommended by willy 974 on eBay. It works well.

That seller sends by courier (I selected the Fedex shipping option).

I ordered a camera on eBay that replaces the rear number plate light (the number plate light still works with the camera).

The exchange rate is going to screw up the economics of doing this. But the camera is great.

Thanks Jola!

I was starting to think that video input on the 2013+ SE screens just wasn't possible. Ofcourse I will not only be using it for the reverse camera, I will be connecting a raspberry pi too.

I promise to code only while stationary... Laughing

Mostly to monitor sensors connected to the raspberry pi, mounted on the roof. No real interest in video while driving, but I love to listen to podcasts while driving.

I assume you have not had any issues after installation?

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Baltic Blue

Hi,

If I replace the rear number plate lamp with a reversing camera/number plate lamp do I need to remove the exterior rear door handle to feed the wiring through to the inside of the car? I realise that the camera is fitted as a direct replacement it is just the camera wiring I am not certain about.

Thanks

I removed the large black piece of plastic which holds the lights as well as the rear door handle.

As you mention, in order to do the wiring properly.

At a pinch, you may be able to do the job without doing that, but IMO it is better to remove that piece. I also put some slack in there in case I want to change to a different camera later. As the cameras are cheap, I bought a few different ones to play with.

But the first one that I installed worked well, so I haven't changed anything since.
