The Freelander - built for adventure

I was scrolling along earlier on Facebook, flicking past photos of people's breakfast and strange photos of minions with corny phrases, when I saw this picture.

It got me thinking, of all the 4x4, softroaders, call them what you will, the Freelander stands out, it is used as it was intended, people with a sense of adventure, people not afraid to use them as LR intended. We have had people come and go on here, they wander off buying Audi's, BMW, various orientalist machines and follow their dreams to Sainsburys at the weekend, safe in the knowledge that should 5mm of snow fall while they are selecting their Pak Choi and spring water washed lettuce, they will be able to get home.

I googled 'Freelander in the desert', page after page of Freelander, covered in sand, driven by people with a sense of adventure, the sense to get out and enjoy the open air out of the city.
Then I googled 'Audi Q3 in the desert' Laughing a couple of pictures with the car actually in the desert, sadly on Tarmac roads, that's the difference, I bought the Freelander so it will go where others fear to tread, in the first weeks of ownership my first Freelander went round Kielder forest, this latest car was taken over grasshill causeway, it's where it belongs.

I've never seen an X series or a Q series anywhere other than on the Tarmac and this too me sums them up, they are not made for adventure, they are made to pose, somewhere safe for the vegetables on the way back from Waitrose.

So well done Mr Guezzout Nadjib for having that sense of adventure to get out there and remind me why I bought my car

I'm off up the Lakes ... I'll be a while ...

That's what happens when a Fl2 and an Evqoue are sitting in the workshop together. Fl2 has to much oil and it's went straight to his head gasket, his exhaust starts twitching and gets the horn and the Evoque being a WAG wannabe is up for anything, a bit of Marvin Gaye playing on the meridian sound system and 9 months later the child is born called Discovery Sport. The 3 wise men, FFRR, Defender and D4, came with gifts while the RRS made eyes at the D4 and a life will be created in a few months rumoured to be called D5.

And that is a Land Rover nativity 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Laughing now I've finished living out my fantasies back on topic.

The Fl2 is an amazingly competent car and doesn't get the recognition it deserves. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200
