Try deleting a few old phones stored in the memory of the car. I know with my Bluetooth speaker I didn't have to set anything different on the phone or speaker. My phone (Galaxy S5) found the speaker and connected once I confirmed. I guess as the speaker is a receive only device it is permanently discoverable, but will only connect to one device at a time.
