I used to go to a gym 2 to 3 times a week when i was (a lot) younger. But my excuse was as I went through my forties that regular gym sessions coupled by playing a RL prop forward position (and having a body to match lol) it bloody well hurt so I gave up.

Now I have taken up dog walking and digging my allotment Laughing

Or even better let the wife walk the dog and use a petrol rotovator on my allotment Laughing Laughing

I've spent 30 years and hundreds of thousands of pounds to look like this, I'll be Censored if I'm going to pay to lose it. Laughing

Depends what you want to achieve really, do you want to look like poldark or the rock. The only advice I would give is to get a personal trainer, see them twice a month for a while, gets you focused and stops you wasting time at the gym, then you know how to achieve what you want and can crack on by yourself and check in with the trainer every few months making sure your on target. This is working for me, I've had a bad back for years, the trainer got rid of that in 2 visits and I'm now lifting weights and running miles.

I would agree with Wurzel - a good trainer is worth the money. I've had 2 in the past, both who focused on whole body workouts using things like kettlebells and those are by far the most effective methods. Also need very little kit so you can carry on what they teach you at the gym or home.

I lost 3 stone while using a PT and nothing more than a treadmill, skipping ropes and a kettlebell. Sadly I then herniated a disc in my back and the long break stopped me ever getting back into it Sad FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

that's the problem with the gym, you can do yourself more damage than good, a bit like long term running.

better to get into a walking or swimming routine long term and eat a sensible diet.

You need one of those persons who runs along with you to give you encouragement, sort of like a slim fit bird with a nice bum to run just in front of you whos wearing a teeshirt saying catch me if you can Laughing
