Oil Service - Local independents in Warrington area?

I have just had the oil service message come up, and aside from the obvious cost my nearest LR dealership is quite a distance so I would like to just get my local garage to do this, I have read a few threads about not being able to reset the message following the service, but most of these are from some time ago, is it more likely that a local garage will have the right tool to do the reset now? and is there a specific unit I would need to ask they have. I don't want to have the oil change and then find I have to go and have it done again at an LR dealer just because of the reset.
Otherwise can anyone recommend a garage that could do the work in the Warrington or Skelmersdale area that can do the work? Neil Hampson

That's where I take mine and certainly recommend it.

Landranger in Atherton or Stockport. Martin at Atherton is very helpful.

How to reset the service indicator (read all steps before attempting this as it times out in 10 seconds)

1) insert key into the ignition slot. DO NOT start the engine or press the brake or clutch
2) press and hold the trip reset button
3) press and hold the start/stop button to turn the ignition on, then within 10 seconds release the trip button

If the manual reset mode has been entered, "dist" or DATE will display in the odometer

4) to reset the "dist" or "DATE" light, pres the trip reset button for at least 5 seconds, within 10 seconds of entering the rest mode

The display will show "RESET" or "END" if the reset was successful

Works on vehicles up to 2012 model year

Give that a try. If it works, change the oil yourself and save a few quid.

the oil service is different to the service indicator. The oil service reset requires a little more patience to reset, but you can do it with the dash buttons. I cant remember how I did it but I followed instructions on this forum. It was similar to a Ford Transit.

The oil service warning is based on timing and not some wiz bang dilution sensor.

I'll look for the thread and link it here. Hopefully someone else will know what I'm ranting about

I used a company called RWB in Warrington a few years ago when I had a D3. Decent guys, don't know if they're still going.
I now go to an excellent independent in Bury, A1 independent Land Rover.

Oil Service Reset

found this on another site and it was the same procedure I used. took more like 1 min to reset rather than the 15 seconds for this guy

To switch off the service light in your MK6 or MK7 Transit: (worked for FL2 MY11 TD4)

1. Service it
2. Switch on ignition but don't start engine
3. Press Down Brake pedal and Throttle pedal fully, and hold till service light flashes this may take up to a minute, but usually about 15 seconds
4. Switch off igniton

Job Done

RWB still there and still servicing my two landies. Been using them for around twelve years. Prices are reasonable. They've also done none routine work for me on an off road vehicle.

Omg !
Thanks ...
I can't believe that after searching for 4 days ,
That the explanation actually worked ..
It took about 1 minute in my MY11 but the message has gone .

No just have to find out if it was the warning that put mine into limp mode ..
It was serviced by an Indie 4 days ago, he couldn't clear the ' oil ' message.
But he reset the service warning.
1 long run today & it was fine on out journey, coming home it went into 'limp mode'
Couldn't work out why ..
See that someone posted that you could 'reset the service ', so I did that & it seems fine again , but have not had it in a run yet

Just want to thank you for the above. I had my service locally and this was bugging me till I read this and voila !! it's gone.

Cheers.
