I was driving home tonight and the water was lashing down like it was the end of the world.

There's been quite a few posts about soaked air filter elements lately affecting engine performance. You should really replace it or take it out and dry it out thoroughly. Can't say I've noticed any rain though. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

I've just gotten into work and apart from one jerky first kick down, it seems to have sorted itself out, which makes me think there was some water in the air filter. I will swap it out, just to be safe, but the more I thought about it in bed last night, the more I thought it must be the air filter which got wet. I checked under the bonnet this morning, and there was muddy residue all over the engine bay, including the air box.

I have 2 k & n washable air filters which I swap over if the one I am using gets wet. I then was and dry the other until I have to swap it again.

Good idea, but £110 plus for two air filters (even if they are K&N) is a bit steep for me!! |
