Well that's a good start, my car is manual so I'm interested to know what it does for me. I'm guessing it's just how active the traction control is as it obviously can't affect gear changing and engine revving / torque.

Driving on snow in snow mode I didn't notice much difference (forgot I had it selected) until I turned on to the Autobahn and wondered why I had no acceleration! It just makes everything much smoother for a heavy footed fellow like myself. Mud and Ruts has a similar effect and turns the HDC on. Apparently the power distribution front to back is affected but I haven't noticed - that may be the reason for the "drifting round corners" effect mentioned. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

My son spends a lot of time driving on farm tracks and across fields and then on ordinary roads and often doesnt even put it in any of the off road modes as it generally sorts itself out. Incidentally he thinks that the hill descent control is brilliant when he has to use it. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I think I need to find a friendly farmer with a soggy field and try things out myself |

I tested my snow and ice mode in 2010 down Dartmeet hill on Dartmoor it seam to make the Abs system respond better or less aggressive as when it was off I almost my self when I had to brake sharply due to sleeping sheep on the road. I switched the mode to snow and ice mode which seams to cut throttle response but seams to also adjust the abs braking as well. |
