Hmm. Defenders don't float either. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own! |

Floods near record highs around here, Most people in the village are practically stranded, roads passable with proper 4x4's, plenty of normal cars have tried and failed no doubt expensively.

You haven't got short legs, there's no way in 18" of water you felt how cold it really was

My hope is that in a cataclysmic event we run out of media. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own! |

It's not always stupidity though, Rog. If you've been flooded in the past sometimes it's just not possible to get the flood risk covered again. I suppose you can see the insurer's point of view - if the risk is clearly there and likely to happen again, would YOU allow another policy? It's either a straight "No" or a huge premium hike. Old dears car fixed. Plugs out cranked engine water sprayed out. Squirt of wd40 runs fine. Nipped to ripon for a new air filter. The carpets may never dry though

Pity about that drowned Defender but lots of media clips showing Emergency Service Landy Defenders (some quite aged) out at work helping rescue teams acrsoss the flood striken areas. Priceless marketing value there if only our illustrious LR hierarchy could see past Mrs Beckham's handbag to recognise that small but important market sector. Don't see much footage of Emergency Services using Disco 4s........ far too posh to be out in the wet no doubt. |
