I couldnt get any of those locally at Halfords either, they had all the rest except what you need as per usual.
Bought mine on line at 4pm and had them the next day a 11am from Powerbulbs, excellent service and even got 20% off too, you wont get that at Halfords.

The word from my local garage is that the replacements they can get fail quickly and they will only fit Genuine LR bulbs, which their factor doesn't supply.
I had only gone to them because I thought they would be able to get the part and save me the bother. So I ended up driving to Cambridge to get the right bulb from the Stealer. Got home, found he had sold me the wrong bulb (pre MY13) so had to drive back to Cambridge to get it replaced. After which I fitted it myself of course. Very simple job. The MY13 onwards have a single bulb with a black box attached (essentially, bulb and bulb holder in one piece, which just plugs in). Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

I heard an advert on the radio today for Halfords selling car bulbs and they will fit them for ONLY £7. Up until a couple of years ago they would fit them free.
My daughter took her 04 reg Renault Megane for a new headlamp bulb and on that car it was so difficult that you virtually had to take the front bumper off to get at one of the headlights, it took the guy about 30 mins and he nearly gave up. Since then they have been charging for it. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I was running mine on HB3 Nightbreakers and found signs of melting/distortion on the LH lens in line with the projector, Rh side fine. Headlight unit replaced under Warranty and dealer says they'd not seen any like that before, I'd fitted the standard original before I took it in but the RH side still has the upgraded bulb. Anyone else seen or heard of this? MY14 TD4 manual XS Orkney grey.

make sure you dont touch the glass part of the buld, as this can cause the light to fail quicker.. soemthing to do with the grease on your skin.

Use some tissue or just grip the metal part being careful.. MY2011 Freelander 2 GS Santorini Black

when you say the ulb went and you tried 3 times, do you mean you've tried a new bulb each time and it's not working?

has the fuse blown? blowing bulbs can occassionaly blow the fuses.

if its simply not working you need to work through it bit by bit, start with replacing the bulb and fuse (i would stick a new fuse and bulb in even if they dont look blown as you cant always see the break in the element)

Then see if you have power at the headlight with either a new bulb or better yet a multi meter..

If you dont have power at the bulb, see if you have power at the fuse, this should narrow down your search for the problem.

obviously i'm assuming a few things here.. sorry if its teaching you to suck eggs, its hard not knowing other peoples experience.

basically replace the easy, cheap things first and work back from there.. MY2011 Freelander 2 GS Santorini Black

Hi and thanks for quick reply Ive checked to see what fuse it was that may have blown all I could see was the one for the main headlamp unit couldn't see a fuse for the side lights I'm going to start again with it by checking the fuse lay out again then checking the lamp and metering the power supply to go to the lamp unit itself then taking a set back to start again after a break from it.

There is no fuse for the sidelights, its supplied via a FET. The FET also supplies the rear sidelight on that side, so if that is working then more than likely you have a local to the headlight fault.
