Sounds like a good trip again. Smile I tried driving up that hill near Lake Harry, spun a wheel and slashed the sidewall of a tyre on the razor sharp rocks. I'll be out there again in a few weeks....

It’s funny – I was contemplating to climb it up myself. What stopped me was the presence of these two guys, didn’t feel like showing off or making a fool of myself. When I walked up I saw how treacherous the hill is. There is another one next to it, where obviously lots of people have climbed up as well.

Mike, are you still planning Simpson crossing?

Absolutely, I'm just waiting for a break in my work load. Good choice not driving that hill.
The best Birdsville Track trip I did was a few years ago when the Eyre Creek was flooded and the ferry was operating. Would you believe I drove out there for the weekend? Non stop to Marree, one day on the track and non stop home. The ferry was supposedly a one in 20-30 year event and I didn't want to miss it. It ended up operating for over 6 months...what a loser. Smile Glad I did it though.

Mate, that is real hard core! I need to talk to you about this kind of stuff, when I see you next time. Good luck with Simpson, cant wait to see you through.

Hey chalkey, I'm glad you like my images. I wish I could put more photos, but it takes so much time to load them to Photobucket and then embed their codes into a post here. The link I put at the beginning of this thread gives you access to my site, where you can see a lot of photos, not only of my latest trip. Cheers!

Excellent text and stunning photos as usual, and of course you didn't disappoint with you extra marital adventures as always, you must tell us how you manage to attract all these girls, very jealous. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

It's true that light travels faster than sound, some people look quite intelligent until you hear them speak.

Hey Vesko, long time no hear. Very Happy You weren't illegal being in the desert out of Birdsville. You don't need a permit while you are in Queensland unless you want to camp on the side of the track. Then its about $6 per person per night which is the cost for camping in any Queensland national park. The Desert Parks Pass is only for South Australian sections of the track.
Where to over the Christmas break? I'm doing Fraser Island again, haven't been there for 15 years. Cheers.

Mate, the thing you might not know is that for us to drive to those places is the equivalent of you driving to North Africa distance wise. Smile
Still, there are plenty of 4wd wonderland and free camping opportunities within 2 hours of the centre of Sydney. There has to be some benefits in living at the other end of the world...
