Good question, but before you call the Jag wheels weak, tell me what's the load rating on the Freelander 2 or Evoque alloy?

I wouldn't call a Freelander "much" heavier mines weighed in at 1990kg with me in it, the XJR weighed in at 1880kg with me in it. That's on weighbridges.

According to the RACQ documents, the X350 XJR is rated as follwing

750kg tow unbraked
1900kg tow braked
75kg ball weight
1810kg Kerb weight
2345kg GVM
4245kg GCM

Same document lists the 3.2 Freelander 2 as

750kg tow unbraked
2000kg tow braked
150kg ball weight (up to 250kg if the extra 100kg is removed from the vehicle)
1820kg Kerb weight
2505kg GVM
4505kg GCM

So at the most it's an extra 250kg in the GCM of Freelander vs. XJR.

You should be OK. They are designed to run low profile tyres, and you'd use a higher profile tyre for the Freelander. So more give in the wall.

Ive seen loads with Evoque wheels them, just to be different ive got FL2 ones on mine

Sure, just make sure that the FL2 has all 4 wheels on the ground at all times. When one wheel lifts off the ground, the other 3 have to take the weight. Sometimes even 2 of them have to take the weight for a time. That is why there is a load rating...

That thread only talks about the tyre load rating, not the wheel load rating.

Yes obviously the tyre load rating needs to match or better the factory specs. The 255/35R20 on the Jag, apart from the profile being too low, is also a 97 rated tyre. The FL2 would need a 105 minimum, that's clear.

But it was suggested that the load rating of the Jag wheel wouldn't be enough, which I don't agree with.

I know that the OEM Land Rover wheels are well engineered (probably over engineered) which is why I bought the OEM Evoque alloys. But for someone to claim a load rating of the wheel that needs to be met, then they need to put a number on it.

There is no load rating marked on the Evoque wheels.

And as for the notion of all the vehicle weight being on two wheels while off-roading, that's a consideration for the tyres more than the wheels.

A wheel get's exposed to some massive loads/forces, for example a pothole at 40mph, guarantee you that the load on the wheel at that moment is a lot higher than putting a vehicle on two wheels. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

There is a load rating on my Freelander wheels, max load 680 kg. I am sure there is on on my Evoque wheels, but without getting a mirror on a stick and probing around outside I can't remember what it is. As I have just finished nights it'll have to wait.

I had a look at the factory 18" wheels on our FL2, there is no load rating on them, which wheels do you have that are marked 680kg?

So far i've checked

FL2 18's - no marking
Evoque 20's - no marking
Jag BBS 20's - no marking
Jag BBS 18's - no marking

In any case 680kg doesn't seem like much, I found some info regarding Disco/RRS wheels having a rating of 940kg in 17, 18 & 19 and the 20's are 858kg http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/157207...heels.html
