Replacing HB3 bulb

The light output from my FL2 is not very good to say the least Crying or Very sad so I decided to change the bulbs for Osram Nightbreakers, I looked at the owners manual and the bulb socket is shown as facing down 90 deg to the horizontal but when I fit the bulb and turn it to lock it stops at about 45 deg Confused Is this correct?

I seem to recall when i did mind it seems to stop at 45 degrees but should go to 90 degrees as you said, you can check by fitting the original bulb back, the new bulb should go in the same position, i remember the new bulb is a tighter fit to turn?

My 15my lights are the same, pointing down at 45 degrees. I have just replaced the Halfrauds plus whatever percentage brilliance bulbs as the beam pattern was awful with Bosch bulbs. I'll see how they go when I drive tonight.

Gav.

Further to my previous post, I have just looked at the online 14my hand book and it does show the bulb connectors angled down at 90 Deg. It also shows two bulbs, rather than just the one, as the later models have LED side lamps, in the position that the high beam bulb would be. I guess this was another item in the book not updated.

The bulbs I fitted seem to have a better beam pattern against the garage door than the Halfords bulbs, they are not as white as the Halfords bulbs though. I'll see how they perform on the road.

flycop,
Are your bulbs H11 for 2011 facelift with projector lamps or HB3 for 2013 models.
2011 headlamps lamps are pretty poor but uprated bulbs in dip H7 if I remember correctly are a good help with H11 for main. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.
