I had a couple of 19 inch tyres fitted yesterday (Asda Tyres £115 each, fitted) and overheard the owner telling a customer that cost prices were still falling and that he should hang on for a full set in the spring.

By the way, the tyres came from one of their usual large distributors; it seems Asda are just an online marketing tool.

Also worth noting that the old set had pressure sensors but the lack of sensors in the new pair did not trigger any dash warnings, presumably because the system is not enabled in my uprated SE model.

The fitter warned me to keep an eye on the metal valves. This is proving awkward from the driving seat, so I stop every ten yards to check their condition.

Bare in mind that a lot of modern tyre pressure monitoring systems don't have sensors in the valve anymore. It is monitored from the ABS sensors.
