Fl2 starting issues

For the last couple of months my fl2 has been failing to start at least once a month! I mean it just goes dead, engine wont turn over! After waiting 20 minutes or so it starts then its ok for a few weeks! After failing to start twice yesterday when i was out and about it is now stuck on my drive and wint start at all! Have run jump leads from my other car thinkkng its a battery problem (its the original battery, 8 year old) but still dead! Any advice would be appreciated!

There are some connectors in the passenger footwell, try removing and then reconnecting. I would replace the battery anyway if it is that old.

If you have all the correct lights etc on the dash but just silence when you press the button, then maybe the starter motor solenoid is giving up.

If you have nothing at all, could be battery, terminals, earth strap/connection to chassis. Doesn't sound serious if it starts sometimes, there must be a poor connection or battery issue somewhere. Starter motor is a good suggestion, try hitting it with a hammer to free it - if this works then bingo!

use your jump leads as a replacement earth, run one from battery- to the engine block. see if that helps

Does the dash all come on and lights work or is it dead nothing at all?
If youve got power but the engine wont turn it could be the clutch pedal inhibit switch not always operating when you press the pedal or youre not pressing it hard down enough when it happens?

Is the starter motor makings any sort of clicking sound, if so try tapping the starter motor with a hammer. Sometimes when worn they stick. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green
