I have had similar experience over the recent cold snap, as have one or two on here. I wiped the struts down with a little silicone spray on an old rag, and they have been fine ever since. Give it a whirl Foraging near Gaydon....

I think it has abearing on the temperature, mine is slow in opening and I have an annoying 'groan' from the left hand one. |

I also used SGS earlier this year for tailgate struts. No problems since fitting them, and about half the price of genuine ones.
