throttle body probs.

Hi well landy is still in at the dealers couldnt find a fault for HDC system failure coming up on dash so went to collect today. Drove all of 5 feet and it did it again! Into drive a clunk from rear end then same msg on dash. Car wouldnt ahut down even after key removed. Luckily still at dealers as they put it on diagnostic and came up with actuator sticking open. Would this cause the HDC to play up? Or is there likely to be more probs? Any input would be greatly received Graham

As you are probably aware, the throttle body is responsible for shutting the engine down by starving the combustion chambers of air, or at least that is how I understand it. I don't recall seeing symptoms of the engine not shutting off all together in the 12 months I have been on this forum. I remember that if the throttle body has gone/is going the shut down can last 30 seconds or so and you can get a grinding noise from the front of the engine. This may or not be your problem. I'm sorry that I am not more knowledgeable, but there may be something else that is an issue here but if the code is saying actuator sticking open then this could be the throttle body. Did you say the clunk was from the rear of the car?

Yes the clunk is from the rear then the HDC warning comes on.
Its def the actuator at the front as the tech showed me in engine bay can here it grinding trying to shut. Its the rear thats worrying me more!

Sounds like two separate issues unfortunately. Can't help with the HDC, sorry.
