BATTERY ADVICE PLEASE FL2 ED4 2.2 XS

I have been told by the dealer that I need to change my battery as it is on it's way out. My wife likes to use all the elkectrical functions of the car which drains the battery. I want to buy one that will handle the high stress such as air con, electric seats, radio, stop start etc. Can anyone advise which battery I should be looking at? the dealer wants to charge me £270 but thought I would get advice on here first of all, as I have just found your site whilst looking for batteries. Thanks

Search on the forum for the term "AGM battery" you will find lots of threads some with links to the batteries bought. I did the same. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

Thanks for the reply - I have just been going through a few previous threads about batteries, but they seem to be for older models mine is a 61 plate, who would have thought there would be so many batteries.

You just need an AGM battery with the specs discussed in the threads. You can choose any one you want with those specs.

Incidently which one did you go for in the end?

I can't remember but I link to it in one of the threads. Sorry I don't have time to find it myself. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

You learn something everyday, I never knew Duracell did car batteries, I always thought they only did them for those rabbits Wink

Cold cranking, when the engines stone cold.

Blimey AGM Batteries are expensive. I just bought an ordinary wet cell Exide 800cc 85ah for £75 delivered.

So basically the dealer is trying to rip me off by charging £270 for a battery if they are £75 delivered?

AGM batteries are more expensive, a lot more expensive!!

its different technology in the battery to normal lead acid batteries, to cope with the power hungry stop/start and all the other heavy loads in higher spec cars such as heated seats, windscreen, steering wheel, door handles, gear lever, foot pedals, indicator stalks etc etc etc etc. Laughing

the wonders of modern (expensive) technology Shocked
