Nonsense - it'll be absolutely fine. Your MPG will suffer as you've acknowledged, but the car will be fine. |

I read somewhere that it's necessary to change the oil in the FL2 once a year regardless of mileage, presumably due to oil dilution from the DPF system. Does anyone know if this is true or is it a ruse to get more servicing business? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

If oil dilution is a problem a light will appear on the dash to warn you to change it. |

I wish I had read these posts before buying my old non-DPF one! I live and work in the countryside so mine rarely visits a dual carriageway not alone a motorway. My only experience with DPF was a 2 year old vauxhall signum. I changed jobs and went from doing 30000 miles a year on motorways to 5000 miles a year on country lanes. I had DPF problems about six months later. Vauxhall said it was down to the short, relatively low speed trips. This fits in with the majority of advice if you google DPF. Is the Land Rover design particularly good or is it just the low mileage of your cars meaning the problem has not yet raised it's head? |
