Hi guys

Has anyone ever tried fitting a camera in the front of the car, activated with the front parking sensors?

I was thinking of a small pin-hole camera to fit in my driver side wing mirror. There is a pillar in my garage that is challenging me every single time i get home. One day i fear he will get the better of me and ruin my front wing.

any ideas welcome.

Do what I do and stick a household mirror to the end garage wall positioned so you can see down the side of the car as you enter??

I have a block of wood to stop the car an exact distance. On the back wall of the garage I have a piece of sticky tape as a marker which I line up with the lower fold in the bonnet as I drive into the garage (why ferries or ships have a pole on the bow to aid navigation). When I drive in I get the car positioned within a few cm every time. Also have a metal pipe raised a bit off the garage floor on the left side as a last resort. So if the front tyre hits the pipe there is still clearance between the car and the wall. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Many years ago there used to be an old chap locally who drove but couldnt see too well, and he had two pieces of wood bolted down to the garage floor to form a channel the width of one car tyre so he could just drive straight in and the car found its own position guided by the wood, then he had enough room to get out of the car and knew it wouldnt be hitting the wall on the other side and he had an old mattress at the end on the wall to cushion the blow and stop him.

Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

The alignment marker is the most useful parking aid.
I don't have to worry about the end wall with the wood stop. Also allows the 5th door to open without hitting the garage roller door by a few cm, so prevents damage to the front and rear of car.
Metal pipe to rub against tyre is just the final safety margin.
Teflon (white) mounted on plywood which is hanging a few cm off wall so the plywood will move if hit.
Teflon (black) for protecting the open doors if parked too much to the right. If parked to the mm doors miss the wall.
There is a bicycle convex mirror, but it is only used to see how far the car is off the wall once parked. Rarely check it these days.

I have a shelf at the back of my garage , from the shelf I have a length of stroll with a practise golf ball at the end of the string . The string hangs down to the grill . If the string moves I stop, behind the length of string I also have an old tyre , just in case. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

Similar here for the missus, ball hanging from ceiling that hits the screen before my work bench

Years ago I used to just drive forwards until the pile of bikes and lawn mowers at the end of the garage started to move!
