What's this switch/plug for?

Hello guys.

I'm trying to remove the Center console on my auto gear box hse with little luck. I want to wire my new headrest monitors to the front socket.

Given my difficulties, I've removed the rear footwell cubby, and found the following plug (see pics below). Anyone know what this is for, and if any of those wires are 'ignition-switched, so I can tap/connect onto it to power my headrests?

Please help, stuck half way through my install now.

Rear entertainment system?? You lost me.

In any case, any of these wires worth tapping into for an ignition-switched supply. Want the monitors to power off when I stop the car.

Ta Thumbs Up

Rear entertainment is what you are trying to fit, head rest monitors, to allow watching DVD with sound in the rear seats Smile

I have ust completed the job, but I would not want them to go off when I turn the ignition off as they maybe watching a film whilst filling the car up for example?

I fitted a simple power socket with on/off toggle switch.

Works a treat and gives additional outlet for phones etc

haha, enough with the banter, please Big Cry

Ok, on a serious note, found out that the YELLOW cable is the 12v live on the 12v sockets. Is it safe to assume the yellow cable on the rear entertainment system wiring loom/plug (picture above) is also a 12v live supply?

And Is this ignition-only?

Probably safe to Assume yellow is the live supply across the entire car??

Bow down

Ok. Ended up taking out the Center console, it's on my kitchen table now Laughing

Routed cables in what I believe/hope is an adequate manner to allow smooth refitting. Used some wire taps to tap live and ground supplies. Not 100% these things clamp adequately, guess we'll see in a minute when I refit everything.

Keep ya'll posted.

ALAS!

Console refitted successfully, all cables reconnected.........................and monitors dont work!!

It was all due to nothing more than a blown fuse, thank god for that!

Monitors work a treat, and power off 5 seconds after the engine is stopped, regardless of whether or not keys remain in place. This should ensure i dont accidentally get a dead battery.
