I'm just contemplating having a Superchips Bluefin Remap done on my manual 2011 TD4.

I have to agree with the comments above. Motor manufacturers rarely extract every last ounce of power from an engine/drivetrain setup for good reason (let's not mention emissions ). The components are designed for a certain power output (plus a margin) and you have no way of knowing whether the chipping will result in you exceeding those limits.

Didn't do my td4 auto any harm, didn't increase fuel economy either

Maximum torque from the standard TD4 is 400Nm. Maximum torque capacity of the manual gearbox is 380Nm. So Land Rover already seem to be pushing the limits a bit! (Figures from topix.) Given that, anything which further increases torque would seem risky, particularly when the potential for clutch and flywheel problems is also taken into account. You might get away with it, or you might be in for some big repair bills! |

The torque in first gear is limited, not sure how, I guess in the factory map. |

so that would explain why my standard 2008 TD4 blew the slave cylinder DMF and clutch at only 60k, followed by rear diff bearings. Why on earth would LR produce a car that pushes out more torque than the transmission can handle ??? bunch of idiots!! Knew I should have gone for auto !!!! |

It may well be the torque is reduced by the ECU at certain RPM in certain gears my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis 2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever. |

We have had a 10 reg and an 11 reg that both had to have recon gearboxes, both with the same fault - wouldn't go into or stay in 5th. Clutches were OK at the time. Our 08 and 60 reg cars driven by same people were OK. I wonder if this could have been related to the torque issue ? I believe that manual gearbox problems are fairly rare with FL2. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I would suggest the problem was on the tolerances of the synchro rings and the synchro cones, a common problem in 60's and 7o's cars my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Hmm isn't there just!! One of the few things I dislike about the Freelander is its pitiful performance below 1100 rpm and pulling out from junctions hence looking at remapping! |
