Doggy ASBO's

Now I have only heard one side of this story but a Labradoodle in our village has just been tagged for jumping up a jogger. The jogger reported the dog to the police and claimed he "feared for his life". The police have tagged the dog and told the owners it must be kept on a lead in public places at all times. If there is a second complaint the dog will be put to sleep.

The dog is big (and nuts) but there is no way you could ever confuse being overly friendly with aggression. Shame for the dog and owners but a useful lesson for the rest of us.

Not the first Ive heard of this. When I went to view a pup the breeder apologised for the adult dogs being in cages but explained that people can be prosecuted if someone simply feels threatened by their dog. Not attacked, not repeatedly threatened by the dog and owner, just feel threatened once.

Bloody moronic with no common sense applied. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

Some people just don't like dogs, and to be faced with a dog (any breed ) running up to them and jumping up on them can be frightening.

Dog owners should realise this and respect how they feel and keep the dog under control.

So if you can't control your dog keep it on a lead please.

Iain

When out walking our dog, my wife saw a Ridgeback jump up at a runner. The runner complained and the Ridgeback owner said something like "Get a grip, it's only a f*****g dog". The runner complained to the park warden and they took the dog owners name and registration number and said they would be kept on file. The dog owner cried her eyes out!

That is of course true and applies to anything really. It is about being considerate. But for a dog which is boystrous rather than dangerous to be put down just because one person takes offence is crazy. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

I got yelled at recently by a woman in our local park because our labrador had wandered over to see what she was eating (as they do). He was just sitting there, begging, with that "my owner hasn't fed me for days" look on his face.

It's interesting how different people react to our dog - children especially. Most of them, even quite young children, instinctively want to reach out and stroke him. There's just a very small minority who pull back, and some even burst into tears, so I always try and keep him away or even put him on the lead if necessary. It's a cultural thing, of course.

I do not own a dog or have any desires to.
I am a keen cyclist, walker and occasional jogger, who has had so many confrontations with angry, friendly and playful dogs, to the point were I believe all dogs should be muzzled and on leads, in public places with no exceptions.
Whilst I realise this will not be a popular opinion, it would cut down the damage limitations after an attack not only to the innocent public but also to other animals.

I'll agree with that if all cyclists install a bell and Censored use it and get out of my space on the pavement.

Indeed pavements are meant for pedestrian traffic. Police and local community wardens will correctly caution or fine a cyclist for such a breach.

My concern with dogs is they are unpredictable, as they are strangers to the general public (dogs have been known to turn on their owners or relatives as well). Owners know their dogs better than anyone, but dogs are still animals and therefore have some degree of unpredictability. We should never trust any animal 100% as there is always a natural instinct that cannot be bred out. I have had dogs, don't own one now but will in the future so I can see both sides of the story, it is about appreciating how others may think and feel.

This thread just sum's up how this country is now, People left to die in ditch's after a car accident because the police are to busy perusing the criminal dog owner who let their dog excitedly greet someone Rolling with laughter

No offence intended to anyone but there are so many more things we need to address in society and yet they are giving dog's ASBO's

My dogs are never off the leash in a public place.

Many people are afraid of dogs or allergic to dogs and a dog of any size can be a daunting experience. I've had it out walking mine, other dogs off their leash come bounding over baring teeth it's not a pleasant experience. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200
