2007 LR2 i6 HSE Auto Tambora Flame

So whats the Freelander like in Soft Sand?

Thsi weekend i went out for some 4WDin with my mate in his Nissan Narva and it was awesome, however a few times we needed to use the low torque gears.

Would the Freelander cope with this, as it does have this option?

Dorko

I've driven the LR2 a number of times in sand and it performed brilliantly. So long as you drop the tyre pressures, use sand mode WITH ESP OFF, and read the sand - remember, momentum is key, then the LR2 is pretty capable.

Another problem area seems the exhaust. It looks like it can get easy damaged especially the pipe of the diesel sticking out . What is the expierence. How do I protect it and can I modify the pipe?

never noticed it to be a problem with the exhaust, not had any mud of any scrape marks where it has made contact, thought my towbar did come into contact quite abit

When I did my LR Experience, the modification they made to protect the exhaust was to fit a towbar. They said that they did it to all Freelanders, as the towbar takes a lot of abuse, and saves the exhaust. It's not guaranteed, but will stop a lot.

There are a few choices for the old FL, not sure if anything could be modifyed for the FL2

The FL2 is great in sand, just turn off DSC in the really soft sand because it like to kill the engine because the wheels are slipping too much. 2007 TD4 SE
