buzzing noise from dashboard glass at 40mph

Hi

my 2014 FL2 has an annoying issue in that at about 40MPH the clear plastic in the dash covering the dials starts to vibrate. A swift push and it stops for a few miles - lather rinse and repeat

is there an easy fix or is this a dealer jobbie ? i thought of putting a small piece of rubber in the gap to deaden the vibration - good idea or not ?

Q

it seems to be the actual clear plastic as when you rest your fingers on it - the noise stops

There shouldn't be anything to cause the vibration.

(My speedo cable post was a wind up Rolling Eyes )

The motors in the cluster are small stepper motors that don't produce any vibration worth talking about.

There is absolutely nothing in the cluster to cause vibration, so it must be from another source.

The best course of action would be to cure it yourself by jamming the edge of the glass.

LANDROVER will make a pigs ear of the job.

Just cut a small strip of old gasket, cork or rubber material, and ease it between the shroud and lens panel, its most like warped due to age and sun,? when you think about it the dash especially in summer gets heated up to at least 20 degrees higher than outside temperature, sometimes too hot to touch, its a wonder they stay as good as they do.

If you can get some silicone spray into the affected area that can silence it, it will still move but you won't hear it.

Putting something in there to jam it up is putting pressure on other parts that may just move the noise elsewhere, you will be surprised by how much rubber you will have to jam in there to provide the pressure that you exert when you shove it.

Spraying it may work but may also stain the instruments ?

When push comes to shove you have a problem, if its just light pressure needed then it should be ok?

Try not to spray too much silicone near the cluster, as it will kill the lcd display if it gets near it
