Shocked

Was thinking about changing my car for a 64 plate SD4 XS with 10k on the clock - dealer offered me £8,500 for my car which is in good nick, sole owner and only 40k on the clock and FSH

What would be a fair price for a June 09 manual GS in Lago Grey?? MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Whatever is on here, sadly everyone can now check 'market' prices, you may get more privately but nayone armed with the info on here will haggle you to death.

Probably better trying to get £8500 privately and then getting something off the new one, or as taz says WBAC.com

That's quite a good trade in price for the summer months isn't it? One site I looked at said 7.5K for trade in. A main dealer will want to put 2.5K to 3K on top of the price before putting in on their forecourt.

Sadly our metal boxes depreciate but I tend to focus on the cost to change rather than worrying about either the trade in value or the discount on the new one.

My last car had 8 grands worth of extras on it but when you come to trade it in the dealer says the extras arent worth hardly anything, until they put it back on their forecourt to resell that is! Rolling Eyes

Same as mileage, I traded a car in 3 years old with 800 miles on the clock, that was worth £500 more than something that had done 60000 miles in 3 years, until they come to resell it again.

What were they asking for the 64 plate ? , just for interest I put my plate into WBAC and it came back at £18100 for a 14 GS with 10000 on .

I got £7300 for my 08 GS (with extras) and 68k on the clock which was top book at the time (according to WBAC last month)

I would have liked more but I haggled them up from £6800 anyway.

As has been said its the cost to change that really counts, and I was ok with their final offer even though they didn't shift on the price of the car I was buying, but the deal worked out ok.

Renegotiated and have got £16,400 cost to change for a 64 plate SD4 SE with 11k mileage. Originally car was on at £25,990 so subject to test drive and final inspection I could be in a new set of wheels Thumbs Up MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

I suppose it depends on what youre trading in for to a certain degree, if you were trading in for say a brand new quarter million quid RR Phantom they might give you 25 grand to get you as a customer as they know they will still be making a killing on the new one anyway?

Current FL is a 13 plate GS SD with many extras inc. 18" wheels. 2 years old.
I was shown an ex demo(old engine) DS priced at £42k.
They wanted my car plus more than I paid for my current one 1 year ago.

Still driving FL and have bought a personalised no. All FL2's (3) Gone

I'm looking to change my HSE soon. I think I might be better off strippng the bits off of it and selling it as a standard car - Silver sparkle wheels, side steps, rear spoiler, clear indicators, mudflaps, spats, rubber mats, side protector strips, xenon headlamps. They've got to be worth a few quid and as others have said, you wont get much more, if any, on a px.

strip off what you can, without leaving evidence behind and then sell it on here or a well known auction site. Thumbs Up

the dealer gave me no extra for mine over a bog standard GS even tough it had factory/dealer roof rails, tints, front PDC, Pan roof.(obviously i couldn't stip out the pan roof, tints and PDC or they may well have noticed Whistle )

I think he took your advice literally, look at what he arrived in when he went to pick up his new FL2...

my dealer wasn't bothered at all when i told him i wanted to remove items off my old car, didn't bat an eye lid and some items were held back on with clear tape, no spare wheel holder, jack either, towball removed, no lightbulbs inside as i took all my LEDs out

Just sold in to to an auction and was sold not long after by the garage that bought it Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
