Unfortunately they are a dying breed forced out of business by the supermarkets selling milk at low low prices

(unless their lad, pee's in your garden)

We tried that for years but the lazy Censored kept coming late every morning and we had already left for work so he used to leave our milk out in the sun. We were coming home, emptying the milk down the sink and then buying more from the corner shop. Some days we brought milk home with us! He'd never knock for his money on weeks when we left a 'no milk today' note for him - he left it a week and tried to charge us for it. He just had to go. We buy ours from the supermarket nowdays - 4 pints of filtered milk lasts us all week.

As a member of the public I can only go on the information provided and that was as of the day before yesterday, that Tesco, M&S, Waitrose, Co-Op all had deals with the farmers that gave the farmers a "fair price" for their milk and my understanding of a fair price was cost of production+. If that isn't so then someone needs to tell the public!

the price is what it is its upto the farmer to keep his costs down to below that. trouble is if you dont feed a cow the right stuff it wont give enough milk , so reducing costs isnt simple.

the business answer is large super farms to strive for maximum efficiency, but the press and public opinion tends to rally against such food factories in favour of 'farm' based produce.

I've diversified my business with renewable energy to help protect me from price volatility. but this isn't suitable for everyone and of course is funded by govt money (consumers money incase of solar) At work
