Metropolis from Land Rover Dealer

Does anyone know how many of the current batch of Metropolis offered for sale buy Dealers are ex Landrover management cars?
Or are most of them ex rental cars?

Ask if the old V5 is present, or let them show you what the is shown on a DVLC check, I was told by the dealer it was an ex LR vehicle, yes sort of, it was an ex Enterprise car that is returned to LR after thirteen months. Yes the dealer got it from LR but it wasn't management like you think when they tell you it's ex LR. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

It seems that LANDROVER dealers don't realise it's against the law NOT to disclose that a vehicles previous keeper was a rental firm!

They tell you it's direct from LANDROVER when what they should have said is "its direct from British Car Auctions closed LANDROVER sale! ( which includes ex rental cars)

Out of sheer curiosity, is there a perception that LR management cars will be any better than rental? By the way, mine is in the best condition imaginable Very Happy Now:

I just thought it was not very nice for LANDROVER dealers to tell prospective purchasers that the car is "Direct from LANDROVER" or " Ex LANDROVER management car" .

When in fact the car is ex Thrifty Car and Van Rental!

Maybe I am old fashioned, but I like people to tell the truth. Very Happy

Before anyone asks.......
The dealer is Farnells Bradford
The vehicle is OU64 ZKT

And they have just refunded my money and the car hire fee for when I went to collect it.

So I am now on the lookout for another Metropolis, but one that doesn't have the first keeper as a Car rental company.

Dear Mr Tulgey,

I think that it is possible that you may over reacted slightly. Either that or the car suddenly developed lots of faults associated with being abused that were not there when you agreed to buy it - miraculous!

Welcome to the site, hope you enjoy the quite relaxed atmosphere Thumbs Up SD4 HSE Lux

LR Staff cars are off'd at 4 months/10k miles, whichever comes soonest.

Can't comment on the ex-rental cars, but most major car hire companies in the UK have a maximum 8000 miles sticker attached to the instrument binnacle.

Either way, they are seldom abused, and even if they are given a harder time than say a Mondeo, it's what they are designed and built for. Nothing to really worry about. Thumbs Up Foraging near Gaydon....

Thanks for the reply.
The issue was nothing to do with the car or its condition.

If I wanted to buy an ex rental car I would have approached a rental company and not a LANDROVER dealer.

My point is the vehicle was sold as an ex LANDROVER car when it was an ex Thrifty Car and Van Rental car.

That was the reason for the return..........they where in breach of section 6 of the Office of Fair Trading Guidance for used car dealers Guidlines.................simple as that.

I would be very happy with an ex LANDROVER car, my thoughts where it was very unlikely that a LANDROVER car would be abused.

I know two people who own car rental companies and the horror stories are not good Shocked

The first keeper was Scott Group, which is the holding company for Thrifty Car and Van Rental.

Other rental companies use various acronyms!

Oh yes , I realise that, but sadly didn't have the money last year Sad
I had the car for 5 days and think they are perfect for our needs, that's why we are looking for a replacement.
The problem is supply, the only remaining vehicles are sold via BCA closed auctions, one yesterday in fact, so the dealers operate a cartel to keep the prices high.

Imagine the scenario........

FOR SALE.......FREELANDER metropolis , 6500 miles, first keeper, THRIFTY CAR & VAN RENTAL. 」30,500.

Would you consider buying it?
