As long as the handset is within 30cm of the contactless reader, it will be just fine. My local Pub has it, by virtue of just being contactless....paid this afternoons bar bill with it no problem at all....you don't need to even open the handset from standby, simply place finger over scanner and it will beep and vibrate, and a receipt will show onto he screen immediately. Simples!! Foraging near Gaydon....

Used my Apple Watch to pay using my Natwest Debit and Credit card the other day  

I wouldn't put it past Apple to create smart contact lenses which can be used for these payments just by looking at the card machine. Perhaps they will call it the iEye...  LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I've just bought the missus a new iRon with contact less pay, she was a little underwhelmed to be honest.
