They could say they thought they heard a dog barking in the back so removed the cover to smash your windows to get it out, or they feared it was loaded with explosives etc, Im sure theres a legal excuse they can use to remove the cover, and then whilst they are about it give it a ticket, and put the cover back on as a surprise for you when you remove it??? Thumbs Up

Why not just remove the number plates and put them in the boot?

So you replace the car (Porsche) with cardboard boxes, like Joey in Friends Laughing Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

On encountering a covered car, the ticket fuhrer would likely just call the police and say he believes a stolen vehicle has been carefully hidden in his car park.

Plod duly turn up, uncover the car to check and bingo. Job jobbed. If the owner turns up before the police, again it's game over, ticket issued. Have a nice day.

You can get car covers now with a transparent section in it so you can see the number plate. Shocked
The idea being if you have a big family you know which is your car without going round lifting all the covers to see. I think?

Sounds like one of those things that is probably technically correct, but in the cold harsh light of day just wouldn't work.

If push came to shove and you went all the way and challenged a ticket on the basis that you had put a cover on your car and the enforcement officer had therefore "interfered" with your vehicle in order to issue said ticket, I'd image any beak in the country would simply throw it out on the basis that you had only applied the cover so as to evade the enforcement.

Nice idea and probably technically correct, but wouldn't hold water if you were issued a ticket.

What it MIGHT do is discourage the ticket being issued in the first place, but that's going to depend on the enthusiasm (or otherwise) of the individual enforcement officer.

They would probably give you a ticket for parking a car cover and not a car, a jobs worth type, you know them. Rolling Eyes
Our enforcement officers are full of enthusiasm here.

You could do as someone was reported to have done a few years ago have a car same make and color as the local police cheif with the same nuberplates as his
find out where all the "ARRIVE ALIVE" speed cameras were located on a particulay day,
and hey presto 24 speeding tickets issued to local police cheif (aledgedly..!!)

may not be true but what a wonderful urban myth Wales
