2013 GS Audio - Not Vey Good - Help

Hi

I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I have read that there are numerous posts relating to the audio system in the FL2 but I haven't found one specific to the facelift GS 8 speaker excuse for an audio system.

I have some questions I would like assistance with if possible.

1) I do like the head unit and its connectivity (USB, Bluetooth, AUX etc) but I do not like its sound. Does anyone have any suggestions on improving the sound without replacing the head unit.

2) Are there any wiring drawings available for this system specifically?

3) I am considering an under seat Subwoofer (Vibe or Alpine most likely). Does anyone has any experiance of these and are they any good?

4) is it worth adding an amp? I already have a set of Alpine Type R components that I am considering fitting to the front and possibly getting another set for the back. Is it worth amplifying them?

5) Does the head unit have RCA (low level) outputs?

Sorry for all of the questions but I am desperate to improve my sound without major surgery.

Many thanks

Yes for what they are worth Bass, Treble, Fader and Balance are the only options. It lacks low bass and clarity. The sound is tinny rather than rounded and crisp.

I suppose you are aware that there is already a sub woofer in the boot next to the spare wheel? (not that it can be very effective shut away there methinks). 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Not all models have the sub.
Sub is very affective, especially as you can adjust it. MY15

OK, well our 60 and 11 reg GS models have it, also says Alpine on the door speakers if that helps. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Yeah, they took it out in favour of leather seats for the face-lift.
Still looking at underseat subwoofers.

The GS audio system has very poor audio quality. Lots of connectivity but dire sound. My 2014 GS has inferior audio to my previous SkodavOctavia and my wife's 9 year old Mini. Call me a cynic but with premium cars nowadays you have to pay extra to get a system (Meridian in the case of Land Rover) that sounds ok. If you don't pay the premium you get a severely sub standard system. There are so many things I like about the car; the one thing I am really disappointed with is the audio.

Only listen to ABC RN (Australian lefty according to politicians) these days so don't need a subwoofer but with the other 10 speakers the Meridian system is reasonable.

My first car I installed 60 watt x 2 channel & 50 watt x 2 channel rms amps. For the rear KEF GT200 speakers which had a pair of KAR200SW subwoofers in the boot. A very nice system that cost a bucket load. http://www.kef.com/html/en/explore/about_k...index.html Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

There are two Meridian systems available and both have the subwoofer. You have the 825W 17 speaker system the other unit is the Meridian 380W with 11 speakers. The lower spec vehicles have an audio system with a single slot CD player with 8 speakers. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I would be very interested to know if you can fit an active sub to a GS model and how?

OK. So I have just ordered a kenwood underseat active sub. I will post whilst fitting and let you know the outcome.
As for fitting, there are two methods either tap off the left and right speakers or RCA out. I suspect the head unit won't have RCA so most likely speakers. I will need a hefty cable direct from the battery so need to find way through bulkhead and a switched live so the amp only powers up with the stereo.
