If you don't want to pay the runnings costs, buy a cheaper car.

I hate the fact some call dealers 'stealers'. Build a relationship with them and you'll find their pricing to be good.

Personally I would question an indie that was quoting too cheap prices!

I wanted the Message Centre language changing on my FL2, quote from dealer in Devon, at least an hour @ £95 + VAT

Went into dealer in Saint Brieuc, Brittany for quote, did it while I waited, I didn't have time to finish the free coffee, no charge.

Sorry, the name Stealer works for me.

I bought my 2012 (12) FL2 via Approved Used earlier this year, so past the initial 3 year warranty.

I have signed up to the direct debit for servicing, works out about £35 per month, I think.

I know this works out over the year to be £400 plus but while it has the extended 2 year warranty, I will keep the car and I now won't get a big hit at service time.

I know many folks will pay this on a phone contract each month so by comparison, this seems reasonable.

(BTW I bought my iphone second hand and pay £7.50 per month for the SIM contract, so saved a packet there)

When the dealer presented me with a £400 servicing bill I just said it was a fleet car and they ripped the bill up and gave me the keys, worth a try? Laughing

Just booked FL2 in for a 90k service. LR Yeovil dealer quoted £460 inc discount saying its a big one. I called Salisbury and they wanted £747 ! Car is on extended warranty. How come that discrepancy? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

My 90k/6year service was £400 exactly, at Stratstone Nottingham.

ring round a few dealers/stealers/LR Franchised garages and play them off against each other

that was the only downer, I had checked beforehand and the flexi hoses were shown as being a service item at the 90k/6 year service.
When I collected the car the LR service rep did say that one of the hose clips had broken in the past and was now secured with a cable tie but not to worry.
I asked if they had been replaced and he said no as a) they didn't need it and b) it wasn't part of the service and would be a £700 job to replace them all................... Shocked

I wasn't overly worried as the car had only done 54k and I already knew the hoses were in good nick. However I did feel that Stratstone had sold me short on the deal.

I've used an Indy for my last 3 services, A service is around the 200 quid mark. I think there has been a post recently about brake hoses. Apparently a very cheap job as most of the pipe is metal so very little hose to replace. My next service will be the 6 year one so brake fluid will need replacing, service schedule says to do the hoses so I will ask the Indy to see what he thinks. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
