Then just a dab of silicon grease on the offending seal presumably.

open the boot and look at the plastic panelling at the top, the middle section is separate and will just prise off with a bit of force. you can then access the screws holding the brake light in and remove the brake lens as one. (at least this is how it is my MY2008)
just the reverse to reassemble, quick easy job.

There is a recent post on the site somewhere that will give you a more detailed description of just how to get the panel off as there is a potential annoying issue with two panel clips and you can make it easier or more difficult for yourself depending on how you go about it!

Look up replacing or removing high brake light and see if you can find it before embarking on just popping the panel off.

Thanks all, good tips - that interior cover is quite a tricky beast and I suspect easy to snap bits off.
Will have a go or might try a bit of Captain Tolley (vital stuff for boaty folk).

Not a regular leak, just now & again but nevertheless an annoyance but not worth a days trek to the dealer.

My D3 had a similar problem from the GPS (?) antenna mount at the rear of the roof - Captn Tolley fixed that where LR couldn't.

Really useful video. I didn't have a trim removing tool but found I could use two knives, one either side of the clips to lever them out as I ended up with two left in.

As well as using sealant around the whole fitting there is a need to just check that the rear washer nozzle and its pipe is correctly connected and positioned before re-assembling, if I remember correctly, or that will put water into the light fitting.

I did it so it must be a VERY simple job!

I just yanked the panel off , but fairly evenly ie a straight pull. Probably the only job I will ever attempt on this car since I break things every time I touch a mechanical job !

Looks like the problem is it only clips in and not screwed, mines slack but doesnt leak, I think a thicker spongier gasket would be better actually.
