United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Auto Zermatt Silver
First 2 Weeks with the FR2

It's been a couple of weeks of driving the Freelander. It's a XS TD4. No complaints with the MPG which has been 35-37. Love the driving position, it makes a change to actually arrive home from work without my back seizing (like in my Astra). The kids also love being able to see out the back windows.

As I'm going camping at the end of August I scoured eBay and got hold of some Thule aero roof bars. I didn't go down the route of having the permanent roof rails fitted. Also managed to get a cheap load cover as mine was without.

The only changes I have done is to put on my own plate and to de-badge the rear. Next will be to change the indicators to clear and maybe later sort some kind of in dash sat nav and some DVD headrests for the kids. Tbh I don't think I will change much more as I love the silver/black combination.

Would have been nice to have arm rests on the front seats though. Crying or Very sad

Looks like a great forum. I'm sure I'll be using the "search" button quite a bit.....

I do like the wheels. Thumbs Up

Now if you swop the front bumper, headlights and grille, rear tailgate handle, paint the door handles, mirrors, black sill mouldings body colour and fit white side repeaters you would never know it wasnt a 2212 model. Idea

Get a Woodco armrest to fit between the front seats, excellent addition and solves the lack of armrests Thumbs Up

The 2212 model will be the one where they finally fix the 2011 hesitation problem by making it a true off roader (ie no wheels). 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

I understand that the new Defender has been seen testing the "off planet" settings, looks like they have eliminated the rear diff at last.

Sounds like a lot of work and expense. I kinda prefer the silver black theme. I wanted one that doesn't look too bling, even though it does have the 19" wheels. Also, I really don't like the tailgate trim on the later cars. I park in a supermarket car park everyday and colour coded stuff is more expensive to fix.. Laughing

Thanks, Just looked at the website and there seem quite a lot of options. Including delivery would put a top spec one at €200.
Seems a little expensive, although far cheaper that getting arms fitted to the seats. Does anyone have experience between the different types and options. Is it worth paying for all the extras etc.

I think my first mod on both my FL2 was the centre armrest.

I got mine from Fleabay auction site for about £90 and it does make a huge difference to the driving comfort and also adds to the limited available storage.

Managed to pick one up from a well known auction site for £64. Makes a hell of a difference from my arm just hanging there. Good quality and easy to fit.

i got the adjustable one in real leather, i wouldn't bother going adjustable though because to have it set to move then makes it too loose in my opinion. it is a nice have though. have you any pictures of the thule bars fitted as I also don't want to bother with the rails. 2017 Discovery Sport Pure Fuji White "Lynne"
