Picking up my new FR2 on Sunday, its the petrol engine and is there anything to look for. Is the any common faults or are they a good car.

Link to MPG page 37 http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic10566-540.html I have another comment on page 38

15.927 L/100 km (17.7 mpg) according to receipts. About 5% difference!
140.8 cents per litre 98RON

I think 15.927 L/100 km is not too bad. Most of the driving is hilly terrane with a lot of intersections & mostly short trips. AC is on all the time.

The Si4 will take 91-98. Only put 98 in it.

My previous car I had long enough to compare 91 to 98. Initially for years I only put 91 in it. The extra price of the 98 worked out to be more economical than 91. The car didn't drive any better other than better milage which was very slightly more economical using the dearer fuel.

My mechanic told me to at least put some 98 in the car every now and then, as our 91 is crap. I use 98 or if I can't get it I use 95 and as a last resort use 91 as the Ford eco-boost engine can use 91, but have been using 98 for years now in my previous car and never had any fuel problems since using it. Previously with 91 the fuel filter HAD to be changed a few times other than simply routine. Had the car 18 years and now my mechanic has it. Actually I saw it driving the other day and I was a bit sad that I don't have it any more. Seat Ibiza 95.

Even though you pay a lot more for 98 it seems to work out about the same economically at the end of the day, and you are looking after engine and filters better. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Other half had put E10 in the Ibiza and I didn't know about it. Had commented that the engine felt dead. I did try it a few times and it wasn't a very scientific test and it wasn't enough times to get an accurate result, it seemed that I got very poor milage from a tank. A trip from Sydney to Brisbane I used E10 on the way up and 98 on the way back. It seemed to cost more using E10. The engined felt a lot better on the way back.

If you are going to try E10, try to do consistent driving with different fuels to see if it actually works out more economical, also filling up a few tankfuls before changing to a different octane to minimise mixing octanes to get a bit better bench mark would help.

The owners manual is very specific on fuel types which can be used safely.
If you don't have one supplied with your vehicle you can go into Topix to either download a copy specific to your model or MY or search Topix online.
Just be aware that both Lightwater and Philllip have the Si4 which comes from a completely different manufacturer and MY so may have different fuel tolerances to the Volvo sourced, normally aspirated straight six. MY15

Lol, none of them can "lie straight in bed"!!!!
There all too busy covering their tracks and protecting their pensions to actually do anything that would benefit the economy!!
Bit of "cheek" actually saying they want to increase the GST after all the exposure of misuse of tax payers funds.
They all need a reality check!! MY15
