Italy 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Santorini Black
BLACK Land Rover Badges and Front Grill

I would like to fit my Freelander 2 MY 2014 Santorini Black with the oval Land Rover Badges in black instead of the ones in green as they are now.
I’ve found in ebay a complete set of FIVE (Front Grill, Quarter sides B and C, Rear and Steering Wheel) not original black badges at around 110 GBP (145 euro), which I think to be a little too much expensive.
Does anyone out there know if exist a similar Original-OEM kit from Land Rover?
In such case: Parts Code? Price?

I’m also looking for a BLACK Front Grill and also for this, does anyone know the Land Rover Part Code and Price? Any possibility to find a not original grill for my 2014?

I saw the badge kit on ebay that you are referring to. These are complete badges so I think the price is not that bad, especially considering that there are NO black OEM badges available for the C-pillars on the FL2.

The only other option are the stick on gel's which are much cheaper http://www.dmb.uk.com/prod/2072/custom-ord...ow?preview

I have the stick-on ones and they are OK, but as has been posted elsewhere it's best to order them 1 mm larger as they may not quite fit. Also, the silver is a sort of crackly finish and a bit blingy for my taste.
I also have the black wheel centres, and they do look great on a black car. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

I'm planning to buy from ebay the badges, but from different auctions: I'll save a lot!

In details:

sides (stick-on) - http://www.ebay.it/itm/141287304652?ssPage...685wt_1110 - 13 euro

back (GENUINE) - http://www.ebay.it/itm/201174375422?ssPage...679wt_1347 - 17 euro

grill (GENUINE) - http://www.ebay.it/itm/330685759516?ssPage...003wt_1110 - 22 euro

steering wheel - http://www.ebay.it/itm/LAND-ROVER-STEERING...267wt_1110 - 16 euro

Shipping costs for the stick-on ones where to much compared with the sticks price (25 GBP).

Also the black wheel centres are in my wishlist Very Happy :
http://www.ebay.it/itm/191330795457?ssPage...800wt_1347
25 euro Very Happy

93 euro for all Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Do you think these items will fit correctly?

The side badges look better than the ones I have. The stick-on ones may need a hairdryer to soften up the glue and help them curve onto the original badge profile. If they don't quite fit you can touch in any green parts of the old badge with a marker pen. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Some doubts on the removal of the badges, especially for the front one... I'll use a heater and a plastic removal hoping to be successful… past experience / instructions are welcome! I'll post pictures once done.

Next step? I don't know.
I was thinking to the black front grill (I already have the black side vents - remember my2013 black) but I'm not totally convinced (found some pictures here in the forum of a black LR2 2013 with black front grill: not so good… boring let’s say)... probably in anthracite grey like the LR lettering? Could be a possibility...

Everything arrived!

The badges are very well done! The front one has a little defect, like a finger nail sign, but the seller already shipped the new one without any extra costs for me! So great products and great seller!

Now I have to find the free time to have such badges installed…

Very Happy Very Happy

I had fitted the stick-on gel badges but they've started peeling off, so I just ordered a set of black badges from andibitz on ebay, they also have a set without the black steering wheel badge (i already did that one) so let's see how they go. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

Are the wing badges as good as the front/rear? in the ebay pics the text looks a bit 'jagged'... I was wondering if they were actually custom made ones for the size of the FL2 wings, given the £55 price tag as opposed to £10-£20 for the front/rear...

@ Cambo... how did they go?

Cheers...

The front & rear badges are geuine Land Rover ones,

The C-pillar badges are obviously custom made ones as they are an odd size that isn't used on any other LR vehicle.

Quality wise the C-pillar badges look good. However we had some >40ºC days here and the adhesive that holds the badge onto the plastic backing couldn't handle the heat and the badges lifted a little.

This Censored me off but I had 101 other things to do so I just pushed them back down, & tried to ignore them.

Obviously not OEM quality, but there are no other options... 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

If we met on the Jaguar forum....LOL yes we did mate! Wow it's been a while...

Yeah I bought the black badge kit of him, Andibitz? The front & real oval badges are genuine Land Rover, the C-pillar badges are his own ones and the badge lifted apart in the Aussie summer heat. I stuck them back down but one of them isn't perfect.

I don't think you'll have the same problem in an English summer... the only other option is the "gel" stick-on's which are no comparison. It's the ebay badges or nothing at all... i'm still happy enough with them. More through lack of choice...

Didn't get wheel badges off him so I can't comment... 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

Hi Cambo - we meet again Smile like you say its been a long time - I thought there might be some Jag men on here somewhere!
Thanks for the info - like you say NE England is unlikely to get so hot that we have the problem you did
Look forward to picking your brains on this forum

I'm afraid I have to disagree with Cambo on this. If you look up I posed a similar question around 6 months ago. I went ahead and bought the Ebay kit and have found them dreadful.

Firstly I don't think the front and rears are genuine Land Rover. Pretty sure they are not made in this size. I have had 4 badges delaminate themselves, across 2 different applications on both front and rear, several months apart. Basically the plastic front detaches from the silver background, and on all occasions I've found it just sat on the floor near the car. To be clear, this is the badge falling apart, not the adhesive to the car or black retainer.

Also as Cambo says, the Metal side pillar badges are home made and appear to have been cut to a rather jagged shape in places to fit in the retainers. This isn't so much of a problem, but mine too both lifted out of the retainer.

How the ebay badges have so much good feedback is beyond me, total and utter waste of £100.

I went the opposite route and bought the gel badge pack for £16 and have found them excellent. It's true that the lettering is not QUITE as refined but you'd never know without having your nose to it. Most people put the gel badges over the originals, but (as I had so many bits and pieces of broken badges lying around Shocked ) I stuck them straight to the black retainers, and they look perfect. I'd strongly recommend this approach...

HTH
