My understanding is that they changed the rules late last season, preventing the pit from giving assistance to the driver that aids them in the driving of their own car, and/or gives them insight into the configuration/specification of an opponents car.

Interesting....
Surely that would include the conversation where, when told he needed to "save a little fuel", Hamilton asked, "how much is a little? 100?", and was then told, "no, lift and coast for 50m should do it"? In any event, whether it is allowed or it isn't, it seems that Mercedes aren't consistent. Whilst I appreciate we don't get every radio message, it seems that on the face of it Hamilton was getting information Rosberg wasn't. If I were Rosberg, I'd be pretty hacked off. EDIT Re-reading Taz's list of rules, I also seem to remember both Mercedes (and many others) being warned about brakes being "critical" and the need to save brakes. According to the list, this is not permitted either?!!!?! |
