Tyres!

I'm looking for 235/60/18 tyres for wife's Freelander which negotiates dirt roads every day.Fed up with Continentals having had 2 sidewall punctures and a few other punctures. Just no good on the dirt.
Have found some Toyo Open Country H/Ts in the right size. Anybody fitted these? Are there any other options? Have had GG ATs on my Discovery and found them way too noisy so would prefer not to fit them.
Have Scorpion ATRs on my Sport and love them but the only size that comes close for the Freelander is 255/60/18.. I wonder if there is a problem with that size on the Freelander.

Tyre pressures are correct.. Sorry I dont know what you mean by "sidewalks"..Have found some Toyo and Kumho in the same size. Nearly half the price of the Continentals and slightly more aggressive tread. Can't do any thing until next week because of the holiday.
By the way your FL2 looks well set up!

Opps! I meant "sidewalls" Laughing
I'm not sure what Continental your running on 18's but the 19"s have rim protectors built into the sidewall which offers marginally better sidewall protection.
Your probably going to struggle to get an aggressive tread pattern in the premium brands around 18 and 19" as these are aimed at the highly popular SUV OE market. May I suggest you look at alternatives in a 17" to broaden your options.
As a generalisation if your having issues with the 18" Conti's then the cheaper brands in the same 18" size will probably be worse as their construction and materials will be inferior.
Choosing a V or W rated tyre will also improve your sidewall protection as the construction of the sidewall is far more robust.
Can you be more specific in what conditions Led to sidewall failure? MY15

I like my General Grabber ATs. Good tread pattern, not too noisy and previous experience on a Shogun suggests they will provide good mileage. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto
Tricia's - 2006 Royal Blue Beetle Cabriolet Auto
Mine - 2014 Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport Matt Black

Were the ATs on your Discovery the current pattern AT or the older AT2? (Or, indeed, the even older original AT?) I have the current-pattern GG AT on my FL2 and although they're not silent I wouldn't describe them as noisy and overall I'm more than happy with them.

I had both on my D3 and D4 and found the ATs were noisier than the AT2s. However neither were acceptable for me unfortunately. So I am pretty nervous about trying them on the Freelander.
