That particular area of Nottingham is always like that, luckily I tend to only come in down via the A60 so avoid most of the loonies.

Got this today and when reviewing the footage I thought his numberplate was unusual. DVLA check showed no results for an MG with that reg.

Hi Doctor

You seem to have a Blackvue and a Roadhawk DC-2. I've got a Blackvue 500 but it's often a bit quirky and restarts etc and attempting any software update is a pain so not sure if it's got a fault so maybe looking at replacement. Wondered how you'd rate or compare the two. If you've got a moment could you give a comparison of ease of use/any problems/image quality in day/night situations?

By pm if you prefer not in public?

Thanks

Evening,

I don't have a Blackvue, I have the Roadhawk DC-2 for the front and the E-Prance budget camera for the rear. The Roadhawk offers better quality images than the cheapo camera obviously (even though they are both 1080p) but I am unsure how it compares to the Blackvue.

The one thing that bugs me about the Roadhawk is that every so often (only on the 16GB card not the 8GB) it starts fine and says "Roadhawk Camera is on" when I fire up the car followed a short while later by "GPS signal detected" as it should do. However, not far into the journey it says "Roadhawk Camera is on" again! This means that the footage you thought you were recording hasn't recorded anything until it says "..on" for the 2nd time. So if anything happened in that short period, you are stuffed.

Luckily this is not a daily occurrence and must happen on a certain section of the card as it overwrites old files. Perhaps the next software update will sort it out...

Software and everything else is easy on the Roadhawk and the E-Prance. Roadhawk records 1 minute files on a loop whereas the E-Prance records 3 minute files on a loop. There is an event button on the Roadhawk and it saves 'locked' files on the card when the button is pressed or it detects an impact.

Image quality is good at night and there are some videos I got at night on my channel if you want to look.

Thanks for that.

My Blackvue has the same sort of issues at startup sometimes - wonder if it's due to problem locations on the memory card causing a restart?

Thinking about changing and considering the Roadhawk as an option. Blackvue firmware updates never seem to work - tried a couple but always had to go back to the original!

Will keep researching and make a decision soon.

Cheers again

Friday evening morons!

SEAT Leon overtook a few cars in a built up area before charging off up the road like a moron. Then on the same stretch of road just a short while later, a moron in a Ford KA overtook in a stupid place but failed miserably. If you look carefully at the stills, you can see the red car is still in front with the KA seemingly stranded in the middle of the road. Perhaps he lost control? - Footage from Roadhawk DC-2

good deed of the day Smile

Driving down the road, i noticed a cyclist on the floor, and thought i would have a look at what was captured, on my return journey, there was traffic police and an ambulance, I stopped to see if my camera footage had caught the incident.

My thoughts were the cyclist had been heading in my direction and a over taking vehicle had caused him to swerve and come off, as it turns out the cyclist had decided that it was a good idea to outside overtake on double whites the bus (stopped at bus stop) and the truck, which overtook the bus, closing the gap and causing the cyclist to come off (assumption)

Police viewed footage, used it to get truck details, spoke to driver and swapped details of driver and cyclist, if anything proves the trucker was not at fault

Fed up with my rubbish Blackvue. Unplugged it now as all it keeps saying it "Please Check The SD Card". I keep checking & re inserting the poxy thing but still says it. You could keep your finger on the little button for +3 seconds & it reformatted the card which stopped it for a while but now no matter how long you leave your finger on it it stays silent. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

try a Delkin SD card - cured all my Blackvue issues.
Avoid Sandisk
Format the card in a PC using SDFORMATTER

dont use the button / prsss to format a card - it does not really solve any card / FAT issues
